The Advantages of Using PHP Scripts When Building Your Website
The question always manifests itself when starting any website development project: Should the site be developed in-house or should third-party PHP scripts be procured to accomplish the task? Each side of the question has its advantages and disadvantages but probably the most significant advantage of using third-party scripts is the reduction in development time. Of course, sometimes realizing that advantage means you have to buy the third-party script but over the long run that purchase will probably pay for itself. Besides the cost savings, there are other advantages to using third-party scripts when building your website.
Third-party PHP scripts usually have some sort of instructions. Also, the instructions are oftentimes easy to follow. Authors who create these scripts want people to be able to implement them. When they can do the implementation easily, it reflects well on the authors. So, they have every interest in making sure you have a good experience implementing and using their scripts.
The authors of these scripts usually have completed exhaustive tests. Or, the third-party script has been in use for so long that any major bugs have been worked out. You gain the advantage because you don’t have to worry about some unforeseen bug bringing your website to a halt. Of course, as with any computer software, conditions that were not tested (or expected) might arise at any time causing a bug to occur but at least your risk is minimized.
